According to PlacesNamed.com, "Wight" is the 7,053rd most popular last name in the U. S.
My mother's paternal grandmother was a Wight. Ruth Wight married at least twice. Her first (?) husband was my grandfather Edward Jacques Kelly's father. She later married Jonathan Haggerty. Mom recalls being told about some French heritage that she believes comes through Ruth somehow.

Unfortunately, since my grandmother would never talk about her ex-husband, and Mom grew up never knowing her birth father, she also missed out on knowing her paternal grandparents. She only has shadowy recollections of what her Aunt Shirley (Wilma's sister) said about Edward and his family. If you have any information about these folks, please send me email and share it!
Here's what we do know: in Sharon's baby book, written in her father's hand, he writes the baby's grandfather as "Jonathan Haggerty." We speculate that the reason for this is that Jonathan Haggerty was the only father that Edward Kelly knew. Her parents are listed as W. J. and Ora Wight.
