According to PlacesNamed.com, "Pogemiller" doesn't even register.
A PBS site explains that it ranks below 55,000th place.
The Pogemiller name is one of the researched histories I received when I asked my husband's grandmother family heritage questions. I am deeply grateful to Betty (Pogemiller) Harsh, who did that research, and to Wanda Grim Pogemiller for allowing me to photocopy the information.
This line begins in America with Henry Frederick William Pogemiller (1864-1925) marrying Olive Jane Walker (1868-1961), and the descendents of their children: Basil, Charles, Lucy, Frank, Hattie, Bessie, Henry, Donald, Lena, Alice, and Russell.
Donald McCloud Pogemiller (September 1901-August 1965) married Mildred Fern Baird (1904-1974). Their son, Robert Wayne (b. 1928) is my daughter's great-grandfather.
I am more than willing to do lookups from the research I have (some compiled by others) on the Pogemiller family. If you have Pogemiller family that you'd like looked up, please email me your request (be as specific as possible), and be patient. Some of this information can be found at Ancestry, but there may be notations that didn't make it into my database, and I am happy to pass along what I have. Before you email me, please read this request, first. Thanks!
Another researcher has ties to Henry Pogemiller. You can find his research here.

My husband's ggg-grandfather was Henry Pogemiller. He and his wife Mary were both born and died in Germany. With information from another researcher (thank you, Kathy & Jürgen!), I have the full names of Henry Fredrick William's parents: Heinrich Ludwig Poggemöller, and Anna Maria Luise "Mary" Niedringhaus (her mother was a Kassebaum).

Henry was born 19 July 1864 in Bremen, Germany, and died in Morning Sun, Louisa County, Iowa on 25 February 1925. He was married to Olive Jane Walker (1868-1961), and they had 11 children. Donald McCloud was their eighth child, and my husband's great-grandfather.
(Verbatim from the February 26, 1925 Morning Sun News paper, Morning Sun, IA)
PROMINANT FARMER DIES SUDDENLY.
Henry Pogemiller, one of this community's prominant farmers, was suddenly called by death Friday afternoon. He had gone to the timber near his farm and while there was striken with heart trouble. He lay helpless for a while, vainly trying to attract the attention fo some one. He managed to get on his wagon and drive home, but only lived a few minutes after reaching the house. A physician was hastily summoned but could do nothing for him. He had been in his usual good health up to the time of his death.
The following members of the family were called here for the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pogemiller of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Basil Pogemiller and son of Salem, Iowa; Chas. Pogemiller of Henry, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Wilson and daughter of Rock Island; Miss Lena Pogemiller from Ames where she is attending the state college.
Henry Pogemiller, son of Henry and Mary Pogemiller, was born near Bremen, Germany, on July 19, 1864. Upon coming to this country in 1881 he made his home with an uncle in Burlington and was united in marriage on February 9, 1887, to Olive Walker. Eleven children, all still living, were born to this union: Basil of Salem, Iowa; Charles of Henry, Ill.; Mrs. Lucy Wilson, of Rock Island; Frank of Chicago; Mrs. Hattie Willson, Mrs. Bessie Owens, Earl, Donald, Lena, Alice and Russell, all of Morning Sun.
Mr. and Mrs. Pogemiller went to housekeeping five miles north of Burlington, and moved to the present homestead north of Morning Sun in 1900. Mr. Pogemiller was a very successful farmer, putting all his children through the Morning Sun high school and sending some of them to college. A fine new residence was erected on the home place a few years ago. He was an honest, industrious citizen, conservative and circumspect, quiet, but efficient and dependable. He said little but thought much. His words carried the weight of deliberation and mature judgement. The community loses a highly useful and respected citizen in his death.
Mr. Pogemiller connected himself with church in early childhood. Upon settling near Morning Sun he became an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was a member of its official board at the time of his death. Loyal in his support, consistent in his Christian live and a pillar of the church. He also served three years as a member of the school board of the consolidated district of Morning Sun. He will be sadly missed in the church and in the men's Bible class. He will be missed in the community where he has lived for a quarter of a century and has reared his family. Most ov all his will be missed in the home. The sympathy is extended to the bereaved wife and family.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. W. Munster, assisted by a former pastor, Rev. J. S. Decker of Mediapolis, and Rev. J. C. K. Milligan of this city. The text was taken from Rev. 14:13, "I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord: Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them." The stalwart sons of the deceased acted as pall bearers, and a son-in-law, Mr. Floyd E. Wilson, sang two beautiful solos, with piano accompainment by Mrs. H. W. Munster. Internment was made at the Elmwood cemetery.
Beautiful twilight at set of sun;
Beautiful goal with race well won;
Beautiful rest, with work well done.
At this time, August 2003, I am trying to track down who the uncle was that he stayed with when he emigrated in 1881. We don't know for certain if it was his uncle from his mother, father, or possibly even the uncle of his not-yet wife, Olive Walker. (?!) If you have any information on this, I (and other Pogemiller/Poggemiller researchers) would love to hear from you!
Donald McCloud was born 1 September 1901 and died on 29 August 1965. He was married to Mildred Fern Baird, and they had 6 children: Wilda Jean (Wiley) 1922-1952, Dwight Russell 1924-1997, Thomas Henry, Robert Wayne, James Donald and Jerry Lou 1932-1973.
In addition to trying to figure out who it was that Henry Pogemiller stayed with when he arrived in America in 1881, I and also looking for ties to the Poggemiller family. They lived in the same area, have very similar names, and it seems unlikely that they are NOT related. With friendly help from someone in the 2-G line, and a German relative of Henry's, I am confident we will make that connection.
