Grizzle Lineage

My ggg-grandmother was a Grizzle. Celia Ann Grizzle (1817-1856) was the first wife of David Faulkner (1811-1891).

Some of my Grizzle lineage comes to me from a Griswold descendant. Celia Ann had a niece who got married under the name Griswold. I've also seen this surname spelled "Grissel."

Jesse Grizzle was my gggg-grandfather. He was born 2 May 1777 in Virginia, and died there in 1838. His wife was Ann Hensley. They married in about 1797, and had 7 children. Of them, their daughter Celia Ann was my ggg-grandmother.

Celia Ann was the first wife of David Faulkner (1811-1891). They were married 12 September 1833 in Scott County, Virginia. She was born about 11 December 1817 in Scott County, and died 26 January 1856, in Owen County, Indiana at the age of 38. Her last child, my gg-grandfather, James Madison Faulkner, was born in 1855. He was not quite 5 months old when she died.

She is buried in the Wright-Morris Cemetery, near Spencer, Owen County, Indiana. (Thanks to a really super Faulkner researcher for the picture and the map!)
