My gg-grandmother was a France, or a "La France" depending on when you look. Elizabeth Belle France (1866-1936) was married to Charles Aciel Boughner (1859-1941).

I found in Illinois' Statewide Marriage Index (1763-1900) that Charles A. Bougher married "Lizzie L. France" in Vermilion County on May 17, 1884. I currently have four different spellings for her name, from various sources: Lizzie L. France, from the marrige index; Lizza Bell La France, from Don's funeral records; Elizabeth Belle, from Charles A.'s funeral records; and Lizzie Bell, from her grave marker.
Since her grave marker bears the emblem of the Order of the Eastern Star (click on the emblem below for more information about the OES) it seems safe to assume she was an active member of that organization at her death. Since these fraternal organizations tend to be in part familial, we may guess that someone in Lizzie's life, a mother or father, perhaps, may have sponsored her membership.
Lizzie (December 18, 1866 - August 12, 1936) died of diabetic gangrene in South Shore Hospital, Chicago, IL at the age of 69. She was buried on 15 August, 1936. Her funeral home was W. W. Fern.
