Baird Lineage
According to PlacesNamed.com, "Baird" is the 911th most popular last name in the U. S.
This name is rather thrilling for me. When I expressed interest in family heritage, my husband's grandmother gave me three comb-bound books containing genealogical research for this name, and two others. What excites me about this name is that the woman who did the research traced it all the way to Ireland.
My husband's maternal grandfather's mother was a Baird. Mildred Fern Baird (1904-1974) married Donald McCloud Pogemiller (September 1901-August 1965). Mildred's lineage goes to Ireland. Diana makes the 9th generation we can trace for this surname.

This is the book where I got my Baird information. As you can see, I was not the researcher. The woman who did this research did it the old-fashioned way. However, we don't have to do that! If you have Baird family that you'd like looked up, please email me your request (be as specific as possible), and be patient. Some of this information can be found at Ancestry, but there may be notations that didn't make it into my database, and I am happy to pass along what I have. Before you email me, please read this request, first. Thanks!

Your Irish Roots has information about "Irish genealogy research -- Irish surname history and Irish Coat of Arms, ancestor reports, plus information on tracing your Irish ancestors."
There is a Baird message board at Ancestry/RootsWeb, as well as mailing lists for Scotland, and a general one.
I always recommend a Google search, as well. You find all sorts of things!
